Wildcard Book Review

It was indeed a rematch! Whether it was the Warcross Finale, Emika against Zero or Hideo against Zero.   My mind is still reeling from all the unravelling of the secrets and mysteries. I sense that I am about to get a major book hangover from this one. I read it so fast when Emika started to learn about Zero, aka Sasuke Tanaka. The twists at that particular part kept me going until I swallowed the last paragraph and I felt empty.  I WANT MORE, MARIE! I needed more Hideo and Emika. And THIS IS THE LAST BOOK! I do not know why I thought it would be a trilogy. I expected a cliff-hanger at the end, that would make want to scream in my wardrobe or my pillow. It had a satisfactory ending. WHY! I mean I want a happy ending for the protagonists, but UGH! Bloody hangover! I am having serious withdrawals.  When I started to read the book and when Emika met Zero and his crew, I wanted her to tell him to go to Hideo and tell him he's alive. Hideo would stop the algorithms. I s

A Life between Crayons and Paper

Drawing growing up... Since I could remember, I was always drawing and colouring something. I loved crayons whether they were wax or regular crayons. I would have tons of them and still get my mother or my big brother to get me more, even throwing a tantrum if I did not get new ones. I remember I cried to my family for some watercolours at 11 pm and my brother had to go wake our neighbourhood's store to get some, to the disapproval of my beloved mother. I just wanted watercolours. Now I think about it, I feel like a brat. My big brother was my second father growing up, but he was the cool dad - gave me what I wanted but I have messed up, he would give me hell. And when I draw something - which were not good at all, he would buy them from me. It was rare since I was a quiet kid who would just colour and draw in a corner while watching Lucky Luke, Justice League, Batman Series or the Looney Tunes. Ah! Those were the simple days!  Back to my drawings, I was drawing on

Embers (Dark in You) Book Review

Asher is the deal! After reading Magic Triumphs, with baby Conlan, I was pampered by baby Asher in this one. It's expected to be overwhelmed with Knox and Harper - their chemistry, and now we have Asher Thorne's dimple face and charismatic personality at only a few months old. I enjoyed this one. The  Dark in You series  is always a delight to read. It's fun and quick. If you remember the last book, you won't need to read everything which explains about past events or the obvious feelings of the protagonists toward each other. WE KNOW AND HARPER ARE DEEP AS HELL IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER. As the for the main plot, it was consistent. You will only get a break from the main event to enjoy Harper and Knox's fondling moments, their bonding moments with Asher and other family/sentinels fun times. It was the right balance and you do not get bored.  The main story here was to find the 4th horseman, or should I say, Horsemen. We had our little list of suspects but

Magic Triumphs Book Review

Brilliant  Andrews outdid themselves! This one was off the chart - the plot, the sarcastic conversations, the character developments especially with Huge D'Ambray (I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AFTER MISHMAR NOW), the battle action and the ending. It was perfect. It had an ending we deserved, an ending we did not know we needed.  I do not know if this was the last story of Curran and Kate , I hope to God not. I want more of them. They are fun, romantic and badass. There is no boring moment in the book. I felt like I was present in their house while conversing with the others while being on the street trying to protect Conlan and on the battlefield. I could not let go of the book, even at work. I had to finish it especially the moment d'Ambray enters the scene.  Kate and Curran never changed. They are the same as they were from the first book. Though I was scared for Curran with him eating God to attain power. But we knew why he did it at the end and it was wor

Archangel's Prophecy Book Review

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?  So, Lijuan and the Cascade's effects were not enough, Elena had to undergo some kind of 'death' now. The moment she showed signs of regression, I was one edge. This one really put me in a bad mental shape. I want Elena and Raphael to be together, happy and well. Fight together and look after each other, and after the sevens. I want Illium and Aodhan books. This one was excruciating. Raphael's pain and Elena's fight against the effect of the cascade on her. I am starting to wonder if the Cascade is even a source, power or a being. And just when you think you would not hear about the Archangel of China, the big B makes her cameos, in Favashi . This is was weird. She really needs to sleep, like a permanent sleep. And don't get me started on the Archer's plot, dude has some serious issues. The Guild should stop making Slayers and maybe do a team of them instead of one. They just go nuts! One disappointing part was the lack

Shades of Wicked Book Review

A Night Rebel Novel. I nearly lost hope about Frost writing Ian's story. I thought it would never come, but it did and I read it and I LOVED IT! I definitely devour that one. Took me four days and it would have taken me less if I wasn't working or sleeping. I waited so long to read Ian's story and when I got it, I just swallowed it whole. He would be proud of me. LOL From the moment I met Ian, in the Night Huntress Series, I wanted to know more. What resides about the layers and layers of sarcasm and assholery. He could not be that bad if he is so willing to help his friends. He treats them like family and would never hurt an innocent soul. In this book, we learnt it all. His deepest fears and the soft side of him. We even learn his true identity. I wished he would take the real name instead of Ian, the real name was much better and prettier. As for Veritas, she surprised me until the end. The woman is badass and has, or had so many secrets that I nearly tho

Ocean Light Book Review

Ocean Light by Nalini Singh  A Psy-changeling Novel The Trinity Accord Era Being big isn't an advantage if you don't use your brains. Intelligence and strategy have won more fights than might. - Bowen Knight, Chief Security, Human Alliance In the middle of the read, I was already planning to give this book 4 Stars on Goodreads, but then... FREAKING KRYCHEK APPEARED. So it is a 5 Stars for me! The moment we first met Bowen Knight , I was curious about him. He could not be unimportant to introduced him and had him cameos in other stories as well. He had to be important and he effing is. He could nearly pass as a changeling alpha. The dude reeks of dominance.  The plot was well done, well written and to the point. There were no unnecessary descriptions that made you forget what the eff is happening or which conversation just happened. The descriptions only made you want to visit Lantia or Ryujin, or eat Kaia's blueberry pie. Enough to tickle the ima
