Chosen Champion Book Review

Chosen Champion, Book 2, Vortex Chronicles You did not just end the book like this! Fortunately, the next one comes within a week. And contrary to the first book, this one kept me on edge with Vi going on her adventure. I was excited for her that she would finally meet Taavin and then scared as well since she will meet the enemy and as the crown princess, people will just use her to gain more power.  I think the one thing that stood out most in this book is the reveal of the traitor. I must say I am not happy that I wasn't surprised. I was suspicious of that person since the Winter Solstice festival and the person was always grumpy, or on edge. I don't know how to describe it but I know that I did not trust that person at all.  Well, good riddance, though knowing the father of the traitor, I felt a little sad. He doesn't deserve that. I like him from Air Awaken's chronicles. Ugh!  And the second thing that stood out in this book is meeting Vhalla, again. It was

Vortex Visions Book Review

Image
Vortex Visions, Book one of the Vortex Chronicles Reading Vortex Visions was like coming back to a place you visited a long time ago. I loved Air Awakens books, with Vhalla and Aldrik. Elise Kova knows how to create worlds and inhuman creatures that become normal for you, such as in the Loom Chronicles. And I expected the same with Vortex Visions, Elise definitely delivered.  Vhalla, being one of my favourite female book characters, it was pretty normal that I love her daughter. She is a good mix of Aldrik and Vhalla. I nearly forgot the promise Vhalla made to Sehra. I'm glad it was not shown how it happened, I wouldn't bear watching Aldrik and Vhalla letting go of Vi. Anyway, few first pages of the book and I was already hooked. We heard about and met the original characters. We met new characters that slowly became my favourites as well, except Andru. His first expression got me suspicious and I nearly hated him.  I must say it took me a while to understand that Romu

Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead Book Review

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard #3 EPIC-TASTIC FINALE  I took my time with this one. It was worth savouring each page. I can't express how much I love this series. Magnus, Samirah, Blitz, Hearth, Mallory, T.J and Half-born have become my friends (in my head). The book has the typical Riordan's ingredients. It is hilarious, the adventures just don't stop, the actions even how gruesome it is, you are not horrified, you root for the characters, the plot has a flow and you learn tons on specific mythology, and this case, it's on Norse.  I could not help myself picturing Loki, Odin, Thorn, Heimdall and Frigg as the actors in Marvel's Thor. Though picturing Thor, Chris Hemsworth as a Metallica fan who likes to fart a lot was hard. I had to stretch my imagination there.  I won't summarise the story - those who read the first two will know what is going to happen in this and why our young (mostly dead heroes) are hell-bent in stopping Loki's

Queen of Air & Darkness Book Review

LAST BOOK OF THE SERIES  “Some lights were never meant to burn for long.”   Holy Raziel! So many things happened. It was like the City of Heavenly Fire again. I took so much time to finish this one, not because I did not want to read it but because I did not want it to finish it. The last one ended with deaths and sickness. I tried not to expect much about this one.  Liv was dead Robert Lightwood wad dead The Warlocks were sick from whatever the blights were The mortal sword was broken HOW COULD YOU EXPECT MUCH about this one! The more the plot continued, the more it got worst. From Julian begging Magnus for that stupid spell, the new jerk of a counsel, the suicide mission to faery, the weapon of the Seelie queen, Kieran's capture at the Scholomance to Julian and Emma becoming flaming giants.  WHAT?! MIND BLOWN WITH THIS ONE. I am so happy for Julian and Emma, and Magnus and Alec made me bawled. I just want the same for Clary and Jace now. *smirks* COME ON

High Voltage Book Review

HOLY FECKING SHIT  I am just mind blown over all the twists and turns. She became a hunter. A dragon. Shazam is half a hell-cat and Barrons' bookstore is floating on a cloud. WTF.  I was glued to the pages the moment Ryodan came back, cause it made no bloody sense that he just leaves Dani all my herself. Such a possessive beast could not let his... mate alone, unprotected. Again, MINDBLOWN !  I did not expect that the Song of the Making will bring create more doom than good. Seems like the only good things it did were closing the black holes and destroying that cursed book. Other than that, it woke the old Gods and gave more strength to the faes- both Seelie and Unseelie. And to add more to the equation of feckery, Dani (who I am glad stayed Dani and not Jada) started to sort of mutated, becoming all black and then BOOM - a freaking hunter. This flabbergasted me but then the rock, the celestial rock that plummeted from the sky to the man, in the prologue, explained it all. Tha

Archangel's Prophecy Book Review

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?  So, Lijuan and the Cascade's effects were not enough, Elena had to undergo some kind of 'death' now. The moment she showed signs of regression, I was one edge. This one really put me in a bad mental shape. I want Elena and Raphael to be together, happy and well. Fight together and look after each other, and after the sevens. I want Illium and Aodhan books. This one was excruciating. Raphael's pain and Elena's fight against the effect of the cascade on her. I am starting to wonder if the Cascade is even a source, power or a being. And just when you think you would not hear about the Archangel of China, the big B makes her cameos, in Favashi . This is was weird. She really needs to sleep, like a permanent sleep. And don't get me started on the Archer's plot, dude has some serious issues. The Guild should stop making Slayers and maybe do a team of them instead of one. They just go nuts! One disappointing part was the lack

Stygian Book Review

Image
Stygian by Sherrilyn Kenyon A Dark-hunter #27 Man, there is so much to unload  One thing I love when Kenyon focuses on one character is unloading all the background, the history of this character who is 1100 years old. I kept waiting for the story to come to the present time, but to understand Urian, we had to know the situation in which he was born, his childhood as an Appolite, and his early life as a Daimon until he was 'killed' by his foster dad, Stryker. We saw how he grew up, his strength, his vulnerability and his resilience to not give up when most of his loved ones passed away in front of him.  It was a lot to swallow. Another character with a hard childhood and teenage life, doomed to die at 27 or live as a soul-sucker. But Urian wasn't a mere daimon. He is the Son of a great warrior/a bloody chthonian and son of the Goddess of War and Misery. You can't eff with our boy.  Some of the scenes were repetitive (from the previous books), I did not mind

Trip to Mapleland

Image
My recent voyage on our beautiful planet was to Mapleland, Trudeauland or famously and commonly known as Canada.  I roamed the frozen land for 5 months and a half, precisely in Montreal. I must say as a resident who lived her whole life on a tropical island, the snow was a backhand slap on both my cheeks (on my face, of course. Though the numbness was felt on my backsides every time I lie on the snow for photography purposes).  The first road trip I made as to Quebec City, precisely to Village Valcartier, which is a snow station as well as an indoor water park. I definitely stayed in the water park the whole day. Had a blast! If you're in Quebec or going to Quebec and want some tropical air and water, head to Valcartier. Don't forget your swimming suits and your flip flop or sandals to wear inside. You can't wear your snow boots or any snow apparels. You will remain barefoot most of the time though and my favorite ride was the lazy river. Back to Mont
