Chosen Champion Book Review

Chosen Champion, Book 2, Vortex Chronicles You did not just end the book like this! Fortunately, the next one comes within a week. And contrary to the first book, this one kept me on edge with Vi going on her adventure. I was excited for her that she would finally meet Taavin and then scared as well since she will meet the enemy and as the crown princess, people will just use her to gain more power.  I think the one thing that stood out most in this book is the reveal of the traitor. I must say I am not happy that I wasn't surprised. I was suspicious of that person since the Winter Solstice festival and the person was always grumpy, or on edge. I don't know how to describe it but I know that I did not trust that person at all.  Well, good riddance, though knowing the father of the traitor, I felt a little sad. He doesn't deserve that. I like him from Air Awaken's chronicles. Ugh!  And the second thing that stood out in this book is meeting Vhalla, again. It was...

Vortex Visions Book Review

Image
Vortex Visions, Book one of the Vortex Chronicles Reading Vortex Visions was like coming back to a place you visited a long time ago. I loved Air Awakens books, with Vhalla and Aldrik. Elise Kova knows how to create worlds and inhuman creatures that become normal for you, such as in the Loom Chronicles. And I expected the same with Vortex Visions, Elise definitely delivered.  Vhalla, being one of my favourite female book characters, it was pretty normal that I love her daughter. She is a good mix of Aldrik and Vhalla. I nearly forgot the promise Vhalla made to Sehra. I'm glad it was not shown how it happened, I wouldn't bear watching Aldrik and Vhalla letting go of Vi. Anyway, few first pages of the book and I was already hooked. We heard about and met the original characters. We met new characters that slowly became my favourites as well, except Andru. His first expression got me suspicious and I nearly hated him.  I must say it took me a while to understand that Rom...

Summoned to Thirteenth Grave Book Review

Charlie Davidson Series, Book 13 (Last one) I DON'T WANT IT TO END!  I delayed so much reading this one because I did not want it to end. I want more. It ended with a cliffhanger though. WHERE'S OSH? DID HE SWITCHED SIDE? We need Osh and a Beep story, like 18years later. I am sad that Charlie and Reyes couldn't be 'normal' parents. But they are here for her, a safe haven.  As usual, Charlie's character is a breath of fresh air. You love her even if she's annoying or keeps naming things/locations/body anatomies with ridiculous names. Reyes is just Reyes. This man makes me hyperventilate every time his dimple or smirk is mentioned. The man is among the top shelves male characters along with Bones from Night Huntress, Barrons from Fever Series, Kaleb from Psy-changeling series and Raphael from Guild Hunter series. TOP SHELF, ma man!  After 13 books, you tend to be familiar with Darynda's writing style and the flow of the plot. As usual, there i...

Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead Book Review

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard #3 EPIC-TASTIC FINALE  I took my time with this one. It was worth savouring each page. I can't express how much I love this series. Magnus, Samirah, Blitz, Hearth, Mallory, T.J and Half-born have become my friends (in my head). The book has the typical Riordan's ingredients. It is hilarious, the adventures just don't stop, the actions even how gruesome it is, you are not horrified, you root for the characters, the plot has a flow and you learn tons on specific mythology, and this case, it's on Norse.  I could not help myself picturing Loki, Odin, Thorn, Heimdall and Frigg as the actors in Marvel's Thor. Though picturing Thor, Chris Hemsworth as a Metallica fan who likes to fart a lot was hard. I had to stretch my imagination there.  I won't summarise the story - those who read the first two will know what is going to happen in this and why our young (mostly dead heroes) are hell-bent in stopping Loki's...

Queen of Air & Darkness Book Review

LAST BOOK OF THE SERIES  “Some lights were never meant to burn for long.”   Holy Raziel! So many things happened. It was like the City of Heavenly Fire again. I took so much time to finish this one, not because I did not want to read it but because I did not want it to finish it. The last one ended with deaths and sickness. I tried not to expect much about this one.  Liv was dead Robert Lightwood wad dead The Warlocks were sick from whatever the blights were The mortal sword was broken HOW COULD YOU EXPECT MUCH about this one! The more the plot continued, the more it got worst. From Julian begging Magnus for that stupid spell, the new jerk of a counsel, the suicide mission to faery, the weapon of the Seelie queen, Kieran's capture at the Scholomance to Julian and Emma becoming flaming giants.  WHAT?! MIND BLOWN WITH THIS ONE. I am so happy for Julian and Emma, and Magnus and Alec made me bawled. I just want the same for Clary and Jace now. *...

High Voltage Book Review

Image
HOLY FECKING SHIT  I am just mind blown over all the twists and turns. She became a hunter. A dragon. Shazam is half a hell-cat and Barrons' bookstore is floating on a cloud. WTF.  I was glued to the pages the moment Ryodan came back, cause it made no bloody sense that he just leaves Dani all my herself. Such a possessive beast could not let his... mate alone, unprotected. Again, MINDBLOWN !  I did not expect that the Song of the Making will bring create more doom than good. Seems like the only good things it did were closing the black holes and destroying that cursed book. Other than that, it woke the old Gods and gave more strength to the faes- both Seelie and Unseelie. And to add more to the equation of feckery, Dani (who I am glad stayed Dani and not Jada) started to sort of mutated, becoming all black and then BOOM - a freaking hunter. This flabbergasted me but then the rock, the celestial rock that plummeted from the sky to the man, in the prologue, explained i...

Wildcard Book Review

It was indeed a rematch! Whether it was the Warcross Finale, Emika against Zero or Hideo against Zero.   My mind is still reeling from all the unravelling of the secrets and mysteries. I sense that I am about to get a major book hangover from this one. I read it so fast when Emika started to learn about Zero, aka Sasuke Tanaka. The twists at that particular part kept me going until I swallowed the last paragraph and I felt empty.  I WANT MORE, MARIE! I needed more Hideo and Emika. And THIS IS THE LAST BOOK! I do not know why I thought it would be a trilogy. I expected a cliff-hanger at the end, that would make want to scream in my wardrobe or my pillow. It had a satisfactory ending. WHY! I mean I want a happy ending for the protagonists, but UGH! Bloody hangover! I am having serious withdrawals.  When I started to read the book and when Emika met Zero and his crew, I wanted her to tell him to go to Hideo and tell him he's alive. Hideo would stop the algor...

Magic Triumphs Book Review

Brilliant  Andrews outdid themselves! This one was off the chart - the plot, the sarcastic conversations, the character developments especially with Huge D'Ambray (I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AFTER MISHMAR NOW), the battle action and the ending. It was perfect. It had an ending we deserved, an ending we did not know we needed.  I do not know if this was the last story of Curran and Kate , I hope to God not. I want more of them. They are fun, romantic and badass. There is no boring moment in the book. I felt like I was present in their house while conversing with the others while being on the street trying to protect Conlan and on the battlefield. I could not let go of the book, even at work. I had to finish it especially the moment d'Ambray enters the scene.  Kate and Curran never changed. They are the same as they were from the first book. Though I was scared for Curran with him eating God to attain power. But we knew why he did it at the end and it w...

Ocean Light Book Review

Image
Ocean Light by Nalini Singh  A Psy-changeling Novel The Trinity Accord Era Being big isn't an advantage if you don't use your brains. Intelligence and strategy have won more fights than might. - Bowen Knight, Chief Security, Human Alliance In the middle of the read, I was already planning to give this book 4 Stars on Goodreads, but then... FREAKING KRYCHEK APPEARED. So it is a 5 Stars for me! The moment we first met Bowen Knight , I was curious about him. He could not be unimportant to introduced him and had him cameos in other stories as well. He had to be important and he effing is. He could nearly pass as a changeling alpha. The dude reeks of dominance.  The plot was well done, well written and to the point. There were no unnecessary descriptions that made you forget what the eff is happening or which conversation just happened. The descriptions only made you want to visit Lantia or Ryujin, or eat Kaia's blueberry pie. Enough to tickle the ima...
